✦ Event Planning Tips

Timing your wedding favor order correctly is one of the most practical decisions you will make during your planning. Order too early and your guest count may change, your color palette may shift, or your names may be misspelled because the invitation wording had not been finalized yet. Order too late and your favors simply will not arrive in time.
Here is the exact timeline we recommend for ordering custom wedding favors — and what to focus on at each stage.
This is the right time to begin exploring your favor options. Look at different styles, materials, and price points. Save inspiration photos. Think about how your favor fits into your overall wedding aesthetic — your color palette, your venue, your invitation suite.
At this stage, you do not need to commit to anything. Your goal is simply to narrow down your category: candle, chocolate, ribbon box, fragrance favor, or something else. Having a direction early means you will not be scrambling for ideas when the ordering window opens.
This is the sweet spot for finalizing your custom favor design. By this point, your guest list is mostly confirmed, your wedding colors are decided, and your names and date are finalized exactly as they will appear on your stationery.
Reach out to your favor studio at this stage. Share your wedding details, request a quote, and review your personalization options. For handmade custom favors, this is when you want to be in conversation with your maker — not scrambling two weeks before the wedding.
This is our recommended ordering deadline for custom wedding favors at Celebration Finds. Placing your order three months out gives us time to source materials, handcraft every piece, conduct quality checks, and ship to you with time to spare — even if anything needs adjusting.
At this stage you will finalize: your favor type and quantity, your personalization details (names, date, message), your ribbon color and foil color, your packaging preferences, and your shipping address (venue or home delivery).

Shop the CollectionIf you have followed the timeline above, your favors should be in production by now. Our standard production time is 2 to 3 weeks from the date your order is confirmed and your personalization details are approved.
This is also a good time to check in on any last-minute changes to your guest count. Minor adjustments are sometimes possible in the early stages of production — but cannot be guaranteed. This is why we encourage ordering the 10 percent buffer upfront rather than trying to add at the last minute.
Your finished favors should arrive at your door or venue 2 to 4 weeks before your wedding. This gives you time to inspect every piece, arrange them as needed, and address any issues without any pressure.
When your favors arrive, take a few photos for your Instagram before they are placed. Your followers will love seeing the final result, and it is a great way to celebrate this milestone in your planning journey.
Life happens. If you are inside 6 weeks before your wedding and have not ordered yet, reach out immediately rather than waiting. We offer expedited production for time-sensitive orders and can assess availability based on your specific requirements.
The worst thing you can do is delay further hoping the problem resolves itself. Custom favors simply take time to make correctly, and "quick" options are rarely beautiful. Contact us and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
Spring (April to June) and fall (September to November) are peak wedding seasons in Canada. Studios that make custom handmade favors have limited production capacity — unlike factories that churn out mass-produced items.
If your wedding is during a peak season, the timelines above become minimums, not targets. For a June wedding, reaching out in February is not too early. For a September wedding, June is the ideal starting point.
